Bradford Dragons sign Latvian legend for 11th season

BRADFORD Dragons Basketball Club are pleased to announce that Rihards ‘ulcs has signed for an eleventh season in the Dragons’ Den.

The 6ft 3in striker joined the club for the 2009-10 season and experienced consecutive league ascents in the National Basketball League Division One in his first two seasons in National Basketball League Division One.

His soaring antics, paired with one of the most popular slam-dunk finishes in British basketball, have made him a firm favorite among the club’s support base.

Last season was probably the best season so far of Latvians in the Dragons colors; an average of 19.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, thrilled the crowd with its hard and fast style of play.

Dragons Head Coach, Chris Mellor, is pleased to have kept the list for the upcoming campaign in the squad: “It’s great to have Rihards back for another season.

“He has played consistently in Division One, year after year, and is in good shape both physically and mentally for the upcoming season.”

“I am very happy to be back with the Dragons because it will be my eleventh season with the club, we still have the same goals as every year and we are ready to go and prove that as a team we are the whole Can go away.

“This year we have some great players who will really boost our squad and help the team in the best possible way.”

The Dragons will start their preseason with a visit to Manchester Magic on Sunday, September 15 (kick-off 5.30pm).

Magic, who have been an important force in the National Basketball League for many years, dropped out of the lead group last season after a disappointing campaign but will jump up the first time.

The league action begins on Saturday, September 28, with a trip to Uxbridge College to face the Thames Valley Cavaliers.
